This antique Cirebon Pangot Piso Raut dates to the Cirebon abad XVIII-era (18th century).
 
I acquired this Pangot from the family members of their ancestor who was a Resi (priest). He used the Pangot to write or decorate lontar leafs. The text in lontar leaf manuscripts was inscribed with a Panot on rectangular cut and cured palm leaf sheets; colourings were then applied to the surface and wiped off, leaving the ink in the incised grooves. Typically, each sheet had a hole through which a string could pass, and using these holes, the sheets were bound together like a book by tying them together with a string.
 
The Pangot is in a very good condition, in relation to its age. The wilah (blade) is forged with a striking version of pamor Ilining Warih. I had the wilah treated with warangan in Indonesia, the pamor now contrasts beautifully against the jet-black background of the wilah.
 
Pamor lines run along the length of the wilah, starting at the base of the Wilah (blade) and continuing to the tip of the Wilah (blade). Some of the pamor lines are intact, others are broken or branched. Ilining Warih means "steaming water" in Javanese. The pamor lines of this pamormotive rotate or wave along the length of the Wilah and symbolize flowing water. Water is a symbol of life. The nature of water adapts to the environment around it and can flow where there is space. This pamor has magical powers that will bring new situations and possibilities to its owners in difficult times in his life. Like the philosophy of water that always flows to find its own way from the mountain to the ocean. Ilining Warih also has powers that make it easy for the owner of the keris to adapt to changing circumstances that will make his career or business flourish and make him successful in life. This pamor is much sought after because it brings its owner good luck. 
 
Furthermore, the top of de Pangot is adorned with a beautifully carved Gajahan Cirebon hilt. The Pangot is housed in a matching scabbard with typical Cirebon carvings.
 
Because it was always used spiritually, the spiritual powers of the Isi of this ancient Pangot are strong and alive. On request I will gladly tell you all about its powers.

Deze antieke Cirebon Pangot Piso Raut dateert uit het Cirebon abad XVIII-tijdperk (18e eeuw).
 
Ik heb deze Pangot verkregen van familieleden van wie hun voorvader die Resi (priester) was. Hij gebruikte de Pangot om lontar bladeren te schrijven of te versieren. De tekst in manuscripten van lontarbladeren werd met een Panot op rechthoekig gesneden en uitgeharde vellen palmbladeren gegraveerd; er werden dan kleuren op het oppervlak aangebracht die vervolgens werden weggeveegd, zodat de inkt in de ingesneden groeven achterbleef. Gewoonlijk had elk vel een gat waar een touwtje doorheen kon en met behulp van deze gaten werden de vellen samengebonden als een boek door ze samen te binden met een touwtje.
 
De Pangot is in een zeer goede staat, in verhouding tot zijn leeftijd. De wilah (kling) is gesmeed met een opvallende versie van pamor Ilining Warih. Ik heb de wilah in Indonesië laten behandelen met warangan, de pamor steekt nu mooi af tegen de gitzwarte achtergrond van de wilah.
 
Pamor-lijnen lopen over de lengte van de wilah, vanaf de onderkant van de wilah (lemmet) tot aan de punt van de wilah (lemmet). Sommige pamorlijnen zijn intact, andere zijn gebroken of vertakt. Ilining Warih betekent "stomend water" in het Javaans. De pamorlijnen van dit pamormotief roteren of golven over de lengte van de Wilah en symboliseren stromend water. Water is een symbool van leven. De aard van water past zich aan de omgeving aan en kan stromen waar ruimte is. Deze pamor heeft magische krachten die de eigenaar nieuwe situaties en mogelijkheden brengt in moeilijke tijden in zijn leven. Zoals de filosofie van water dat altijd zijn eigen weg vindt van de berg naar de oceaan. Ilining Warih heeft ook krachten die het gemakkelijk maken voor de eigenaar van de keris om zich aan te passen aan veranderende omstandigheden die zijn carrière of bedrijf zullen doen bloeien en hem succesvol maken in het leven. Deze pamor is zeer gewild omdat het de eigenaar geluk brengt. 
 
Verder prijkt er een prachtig uitgesneden Gajahan Cirebon greep op de bovenkant van de Pangot1. De Pangot huist in een bijpassende schede met typisch Cirebon houtsnijwerk.
 
Omdat het altijd spiritueel werd gebruikt, zijn de spirituele krachten van de Isi van deze oude Pangot sterk en levend. Op verzoek vertel ik je graag alles over zijn krachten.
